These are the perfect game day recipe, baby shower recipe, or graduation party recipe. You can serve them alongside Pigs in a Blanket with Dipping Sauce or Fresh Corn and Black Bean Salsa for a crowd-pleasing spread.
I first tried a variation of these sausage cups at a book club meeting. While researching recipes, I noticed many versions included ranch dressing. Since my family has egg allergies, ranch dressing was off-limits. After testing different combinations, I landed on using cream cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and diced tomatoes with green chilis. These ingredients create a bold, flavorful filling, and you can easily adjust the spice level by choosing a milder or hotter rotel variety.
Ingredients
- Wonton wraps: I find these in the refrigerated section of my grocery store.
- Ground sausage: you can pick mild or spicy based on your preference.
- Diced tomatoes with green chilies: pairs perfectly with the sausage.
- Yellow bell pepper: you can also use green or red if you have them on hand.
- Monterey jack cheese: sub for sharp cheddar cheese or Colby jack cheese.
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
