Homemade Chex mix without nuts
Homemade Chex mix is a classic party snack. It is commonly served at Christmas time, but can be enjoyed year round. I have always loved this at gatherings. With several nut allergies in my family, I wanted to prepare a nut free homemade Chex mix.
This recipe uses two types of Chex cereal, cheerios, and pretzels. The main topping is butter (can’t go wrong there!) and then a mixture of seasonings.
I tried several versions of this recipe. One was too flavorful, and the spices nearly coated my mouth. The next was too bland. Finally, the perfect combination! I will say, my family did not mind at all taste testing all of these recipes.
This is a wonderful snack to have on hand. My family enjoyed munching on it at home and on a short road trip we took.

The perfect Christmas treat
This is the perfect snack/appetizer to serve at a Christmas party. You can make it ahead of time and simply set it out to serve. It is quick, easy, and so tasty.

Tips for success
- There is no need to grease the baking pan or use parchment paper. The butter mixture will prevent it from sticking. This will also help the Chex mix become crispy.
- Stir the mixture every 20 minutes to prevent burning. If your oven does not go as low as 250 degrees, then set it to the lowest temperature it will go. You will need to decrease the total baking time, keeping an eye on it closely so it doesn’t burn.
