Chai tea lattes are my go-to order when I visit a coffee shop. I love the spiced chai flavor, and it has less caffeine than a cup of coffee, which I prefer. This version is infused with real pumpkin purée and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

This recipe includes both a hot pumpkin chai tea latte and an iced pumpkin chai tea version. You will find step-by-step instructions in the recipe card below.

Another thing I love about this recipe is that it is naturally sweetened with real maple syrup, with no refined sugar in sight. You can also customize it with your favorite milk to make it just right for you.

Simply prepare it on the stovetop, pour it into your favorite mug, and savor each comforting sip. It smells and tastes like fall. I could truly drink one every single day.

Ingredients and substitutions

Ingredients for pumpkin chai tea latte in bowls with labels on them.
  • Chai spice tea bag: There are several different brands. I love Stash Chai Spice.
  • Milk: I prefer whole milk as it produces a creamier drink. You can swap for your favorite dairy or nondairy milk!
  • Water
  • 100% pure pumpkin: Find this in the canned vegetable aisle.
  • Maple syrup: You can swap for brown sugar or white sugar.
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground nutmeg
  • Vanilla extract
  • Ice: for the iced version only

What type of chai tea to use

I have used Stash Chai Spice countless times. Another option is a powdered chai tea such as Blue Lotus Chai. This is a powder that requires no steeping time, it just dissolves in the warmed milk and water.
