FAQ and Substitutions
Can I make this with canned green? Yes, drain the excess liquid from the canned green beans and skip the blanching step
Onion: Substitute out for shallots
Can I skip blanching (boiling) the green beans? Yes, I have made this recipe without blanching (boiling) the green beans first. You will want to increase your sauté time to about 8-9 minutes and the green beans just won’t be tender or soft. They are still tasty though!
Storage and reheating of sauteed green beans
Store in the fridge for up to 4 days. I would recommend reheating on the stove top to prevent the green beans from becoming soggy in the microwave.
