Easy Italian Sandwich

The combination of meats and toppings truly makes for a delicious and easy Italian sandwich. It is quick to throw together and has amazing flavor. Often when I think of cold lunch sandwiches they can be so bland and boring. This sandwich is a favorite of my husband and I’s because of the rich flavors and how protein packed it is. It will keep you full until dinnertime! My kids eat it a bit differently, opening up the sandwich and eating 1 ingredient at a time.

Ingredients for an easy Italian sandwich

  • Italian Bread – There are so many different options so pick your favorite at the store or bake your own!
  • Sliced Deli Ham – Black Forest Ham was used in this recipe
  • Pepperoni
  • Salami – I used Italian Dry Salami in this recipe
  • Pepperoncini Peppers – Adds a tangy flavor with a bit of spice!
  • Tomatoes
  • Romaine Lettuce – For the perfect crunch added
  • Olive oil – Paired with the vinegar makes a perfect oil and vinegar dressing
  • Red Wine Vinegar – Adds excellent flavor
  • Salt and Pepper – Just a dash for added flavor

How to make an Easy Italian sandwich

  1. Start with 2 slices of bread and drizzle a bit of red wine vinegar and olive oil on 1 slice. If you are going to make this sandwich ahead of time for work or a picnic, wait to place the dressing on it so it does not make the bread soggy. You could also place the dressing in between slices of meat
  2. Give a small shake of salt and pepper on top of the olive oil and vinegar
  3. Layer on your meats – Pepperoni, salami, and ham
  4. Place your sliced tomato and lettuce on top
  5. Add in a few sliced pepperoncini’s
  6. Enjoy!

Egg Free and Dairy Free Italian Sandwich

This sandwich is both egg free and dairy free. The oil and vinegar dressing is a great alternative allergen friendly dressing. My kids can safely eat this sandwich which I am so grateful for.

Pepperoncini’s – Banana Peppers (they have more of a mild taste)

Oil & Vinegar: If this flavor is not your thing, mayonnaise is a great dressing. Try this recipe!

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Leave the vinegar and oil off so the bread doesn’t get soggy!
