This shrimp and sausage boil is an easy weeknight dinner full of rich flavor. All the ingredients are boiled in one pot, then tossed in a buttery seasoning afterward.
12ouncesprecooked smoked sausagecut into 2-inch pieces
1large yellow onionquartered
2lemons
2tablespoonsOld Bay seasoningdivided
1/2cupunsalted butter
1teaspoongarlic powder
Instructions
In a large pot, fill with 4 quarts of water. Slice one lemon into quarters and place in the pot along with 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning.
Bring to a boil and add potatoes and onion. Boil for 5 minutes. Add in corn on the cob and sausage. Boil for 4 minutes.
Pierce the potatoes with a fork to ensure they are soft and tender. Then add in shrimp and cook for about two minutes until cooked through. Be careful not to overcook as shrimp cooks quickly and can become rubbery.
Drain in a colander and return to pot.
In a medium sized bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. Mix in 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Pour over top the seafood boil. Mix in thoroughly.
Serve with lemon wedges and enjoy!
Notes
To save time with this recipe, get your water boiling first and then begin chopping and preparing the rest of the ingredients. The water will boil faster with a lid on.To add some spice: add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and you can pick a spicy sausage.
