Trail mix for kids without nuts
It is back to school time and I am looking for snacks to take on the go. This trail mix for kids without nuts is a FUN and tasty snack. Your kids will go crazy for it! After it was all eaten, my kids have requested it several times again.
Most of the prepackaged trail mixes at the store contain tree nuts or peanuts. Both of which my family has food allergies to. I have read label after label and eventually walked away empty handed. Even if they don’t contain the ingredients they often “may contain” them as they are made in the same facility or have shared lines. It finally dawned at me one day to just create my own. This way I can purchase safe foods I know my kids will enjoy!

How to make trail mix without nuts
One of the best parts of this snack is that your kids can likely make it themselves! It is a snack and an activity all in one. Set out the snacks with a 1 cup and 1/2 cup measuring scoop and let your kids scoop and serve it themselves. You can place it in a bowl to mix all the ingredients together. Just make sure you store it in an airtight container to prevent the apple crisps and marshmallows from going stale.
- In a medium sized bowl scoop 1 cup of pretzel sticks, goldfish, apple crisps, and rice chex into a bowl
- Scoop 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows and chocolate chips into the bowl

Why kids will love this snack
It is a combination of all the yummy snacks out there. This trail mix is a real treat and we love to use it on special occasions! This is a perfect snack for school as well. With peanut allergies being so common, many times families are looking for peanut free snacks. This is the perfect one!
Adding protein to nut free trail mix
Since this is a nut free trail mix that removes a majority of the protein typically found in trail mix. I’ve made this with dried edamame and roasted sunflower seeds. My kids were a fan and it adds protein to help keep them fuller for longer!
