Snow Day Activities to do at Home
When you wake up to a snow-covered ground, make a fun “snow day” out of it! I pick a few of these activities (based on the age of my kids) to do. Enjoy these snow day activities to do at home!
There are simple things you can on a snowy day to make memorable traditions. The wintertime can easily become a very long and boring season. Once the excitement of the holidays pass, it is often times very cold and very long days stuck inside.
To help combat some of the wintertime blues, try these fun snow day activities for your family. Many of them are no cost or low cost. You will have several of these things already in your home. These snow day activities for your family can be a cherished tradition.
Easy snow day activities to do at home
Pajama party
This is a no cost and no preparation activity. Stay in your comfortable and cozy pajamas for the day . It sounds so simple, but my kids think it is the best. “No day clothes today!” And just like that, I am a fun mom for the day.
Snow ice cream
Snow ice cream only requires 4 ingredients to make. Take the biggest bowl you can and go scoop out fresh, clean snow. You combine it with whole milk, vanilla, and sugar to make a tasty winter treat. The toppings are endless and your kids will have the most fun making this snow ice cream.
Play in the snow
Bundle up and head outside! I loved playing in the snow as a child. Catching snow flakes on your tongue, building a snowman, snow ball fights, snow angels, and sledding are all magical moments to enjoy as a family. Until a glove falls off, snow gets into a boot, or someone gets hit with a snowball. BUT, until those happen – pure magic.
If your kids are very young, they may not be interested in the snow at all. You can grab a large bowl and bring some inside to play with. Lay out a towel and grab some kitchen utensils for them to play and explore with the snow as it melts!

Snow day movies
Watching a wintered themed movie is a fun snow day activity. Here are several movie suggestions. Use your discretion with the age of your children. All of these are rated PG or G.
Built a fort inside
Grab your pillows and blankets and build a fort in your living room. You can even call it a “snow fort.” Building a fort is a no cost and easy indoor activity.
