Equipment

1 6-quart pot OR Dutch oven
9 x 13 baking pan

Ingredients

  • 12 ounce bag of regular sized marshmallows
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 cups puffed rice cereal also called crispy rice cereal
  • 4 tablespoons Christmas sprinkles

  • Line a 9 x 13 baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large pot melt butter on low heat. Add in marshmallows and stir frequently until melted.
  • Add in vanilla and stir.
  • Stir in rice cereal and 2 tablespoons of the Christmas sprinkles.
  • Scoop out into the baking pan. Use a silicone spatula to spread out the mixture gently without packing down the rice krispie treats.
  • Sprinkle on the additional 2 tablespoons of sprinkles.
  • Allow to cool for about 1 hour and slice into squares or use cookie cutters to make festive shapes.
  • Move to a serving platter and enjoy!

Notes

To keep the christmas rice krispie treats soft and gooey, try to not pack them down while spreading them out. You can use a silicone spatula or your fingers to gently spread it across the pan.
Other mix-ins: Green and red m&ms. You can also melt chocolate and drizzle it over the top.
